Law -- Accessing New York's
Sex Offender Registry
Parents and community members can
access important safety information by utilizing the New York State
Sex Offender Registry maintained by the Division of Criminal Justice
Services. The link below will connect you to the Sex Offender
Registry's web site. There you will find information that explains
Megan's Law and the various ways to gather information from the
registry. Visitors to the site will also learn where to seek support
for offenders, a list of level three offenders, statistics,
frequently asked questions and the responsibilities of those who are
registered on the list.

In Order to protect New Yorkers from sexual predators, especially
young children, three new laws have been approved that will:
* require level 3 sex offenders, the most sever, to appear annually
before law enforcement agencies to have a current photo taken,
ensuring that police and the public have the most accurate
information.
* prohibit sex offenders who are on conditional release from
entering school grounds or other facilities there children are care
for.
* forbid sex offenders still serving time in prison from
participating in community services within the temporary release
program. They are already barred from participating in the work
release program.
